Breast Reduction
Also known as Reduction Mammoplasty, breast reduction surgery aims to remove breast fat, glandular tissue and skin excess to achieve a breast size proportional with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts.
Breast Reduction Scars can be:
- The smiley technique which is the newest technique created by Dr. Nassar himself. It is with no scar appearance, it is only around the nipple and in the lower fold of the breast, that’s why Dr. Nassar calls it smile technique.
- Periareolar (around the nipple only)
- With a short vertical scar with no need for inverted “T”, which is a scar around the areola and a vertical one only
- Inverted T scar in very sagging breasts. The breast reduction operation can be done under local + sedation, epidural or general anesthesia within a day clinic.
If you don’t want to experience any pain during the first 24 hours following the surgery, it is preferable that you stay at Dr. Nassar hospital where you will spend a quite night and benefit from all services and special medical care provided for your comfort.
The actual operation technique for Breast Reduction depends on your breasts size and their firmness. That’s why the consultation with Dr. Toni Nassar is necessary to evaluate the case and choose the best technique for you. It is usually done by excising fat and gland excess, and then repositions your breast in an esthetic way.
Following a Breast Reduction you are required to wear a sports-bra for a 4-weeks period.
Because the nipple needs to be repositioned, which requires the cutting of fine nerves, the sensitivity in the nipple might be a little bit decreased after the operation.
Using the new technique, the damage of the nerve is lower less.
Resumption of normal activity will be 3 days from the surgery’s date and sports should be avoided for a 3 week period.
A mammogram every two years is desirable.
